Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy promotes a person’s wellness and independence within their everyday living environment. Occupational therapy aims to work closely with people to maximise their independence and enhance their quality of life.

Our skilled team of occupational therapists are committed to working with people of all ages with a wide range of neurological conditions to achieve their goals.

Our occupational therapists provide the following:

  • Comprehensive functional assessment and retraining of daily living skills such as personal care, meal preparation, budgeting, accessing the community and managing daily routines.
  • Home modifications – assess and modify a client’s home environment to improve safety and independence.
  • Assistive Technology (AT) assessment and prescription from low-cost/low risk equipment to complex wheelchairs and seating. Training in the use of equipment to improve independence and safety in everyday tasks.
  • Assessment of the impact of cognitive functions such as memory, concentration and problem-solving on a person’s capacity to perform daily tasks. Introduce a retraining program or strategies to maximise independence and safety.
  • Assessment and therapeutic intervention to maximise upper limb and/or hand function.
  • Supported Disability Accommodation (SDA) and Supported Independent Living (SIL) assessments to assist with the application for NDIS SDA and SIL funding.
  • Education on work simplification and energy conservation techniques.
  • Education on relaxation and stress management.
  • Education on pain management.
  • Advice to carers and/or family members on lifting and transferring techniques, including prescription of transfer equipment (e.g., hoists).
  • Advice on managing chronic health conditions.
